Terms
Terms of use
Last updated 29 October 2026
These are the terms on which you may use the Benchmark Lab website. They are short and in plain English. By using the site you accept them. If anything is unclear, email index@benchmarklab.co.uk.
1. Who we are
Benchmark Lab is a trading name of The AI Adoption Lab Limited, a company registered in Scotland under company number SC900444, whose registered office is 5 South Charlotte Street, Edinburgh, EH2 4AN. The AI Lab is a trading name of the same company. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean The AI Adoption Lab Limited, and “you” means you, the person using this website. The contracting party is always the company, not the trading name.
2. What this website is, and what it is not
This website describes Benchmark Lab, which develops indices and runs the benchmarking platform. Partners use it to offer indices under their own names. Partner delivery is our main route, although some indices may also be offered directly by Benchmark Lab. This website explains those options and gives you a way to contact us or apply for the free partner tier.
The questionnaires are not hosted on this website. Links and invitations take you to the separate platform where you answer an index and receive your findings. The terms presented when you take part govern that participation, in the version you accepted, whether you arrive through a delivery partner or directly. These website terms do not replace them. On our own platform, at hub.benchmarklab.co.uk, they are our Index terms of use, and an organisation set up there to invite its people and see its results also accepts our Organisation terms; each link shows the current version. A partner's terms are in the agreement it signs with us.
The AI Lab is our own delivery partner and is a trading name of the same company as Benchmark Lab. For the current ways to take part, see For your organisation. If you already have an invitation from a partner or your organisation, use that invitation.
3. The information on this website
We take care to keep this website accurate and up to date, but what is on it is general information about what we do. It is not professional, legal, financial or technical advice, and it is not a recommendation to take any particular course of action.
Nothing on this website is an offer. The fees shown are what our platform costs, set out so that you can judge whether it is worth a conversation. What you pay, what we deliver and when is in the written agreement we sign with you before any work starts, and that agreement is what governs it.
Where this website shows a specimen report or a view of Portfolio, the figures, organisations and index names in them are invented and labelled as such. They illustrate how something is presented. They are not anybody’s results.
4. If you get in touch
You can send us an enquiry or apply for the free partner tier through the forms on this website, or contact us by email. We will read what you send and reply. Sending an enquiry or application does not commit you to anything, and it does not commit us to providing anything. Free partner applications are subject to approval and an agreement before our indices are offered under your name.
Please do not put confidential information, personal details about other people, or anything sensitive into the enquiry form. We do not need it at that stage and we do not want it. What we do with what you do send is in our privacy notice.
5. What we ask of you
- Use this website for what it is for: finding out about Benchmark Lab and talking to us.
- Do not try to break, overload, scrape or interfere with this website or the service behind the enquiry form.
- Do not use the enquiry form to send bulk, automated or unsolicited messages.
If someone uses this website to cause harm or to get at other people’s data, we will stop them using it.
6. Our content
The words, design, images and layout of this website belong to us or to the people who licensed them to us. You are welcome to read the site, print a page for your own use and link to it from anywhere. Please ask us first before copying any of it into something of your own.
7. Links to other websites
This website links to theailab.co.uk, which is run by the same company under a different trading name, and it may link to other websites. We are not responsible for the content of a website we do not run, and a link is not an endorsement of it.
8. Availability
We do not promise that this website will always be available, or available at any particular moment. We may change, move or withdraw any page on it, and we may change the information on it, without telling you beforehand.
9. If something goes wrong
We will provide this website with reasonable skill and care. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Nothing in them affects your rights as a consumer.
Subject to that: this website is an information site, and we are not liable for any loss that follows from a decision you or anyone else takes because of something on it, or from the site being unavailable.
If your organisation has an agreement with us, what we owe your organisation is set out in that agreement. These terms cover your use of this website and nothing in them adds to or takes away from it.
10. Data protection
We handle personal information as described in our privacy notice. The AI Adoption Lab Limited is registered with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office under registration number ZC251110.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version that applies is the one on this page when you use the website, and the date it was last changed is at the top.
12. Law
These terms are governed by the law of Scotland. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you keep the protection of the law where you live, and you can bring a claim in your own local courts.
